Hi friends,

I’m on vacation now so I’ll keep it short. Today I’m sharing five books on my summer reading list. I like my summer books zippy and entertaining, so you’ll see a mix of that here.

I hope you have great summer plans, wherever you are, and a big pile of books at your side for those luxuriously slow summer moments.

Cheers,

Ximena

  1. Such a Bad Influence (thriller) — A fearsome debut from Olivia Muenter, writer, influencer, and co-host of the popular Bad on Paper pod and bookclub. The novel follows the story of Hazel and her sister Evie, an influencer who goes missing during a livestream. The Internet has been raving about the plot twists on this one and I’m very intrigued to read it.
  2. Midnight Feast (mystery) — The latest whodunnit from British author Lucy Foley. A locked room murder mystery that takes place at The Manor, a luxurious estate where summer guests are about to get more than they bargained for. (Also recommend: The Hunting Party, which is great on audio.)

  4. Funny Story (romance) — From queen of contemporary romance Emily Henry comes another love story just in time for summer. Like most of her work, expect snappy dialogue, friendship subplots, and plenty of heat.
  5. Swiped (romance, mystery, thriller) — After a recent breakup, Gwen has been hitting the dating apps hard, going on one bad date after another. But things get weird when her bad dates start getting killed, and Gwen becomes the number one suspect. Why pick between romance, mystery, and thriller when you can get all three in one book? From L.M. Chilton.
  6. Beautyland (science fiction) — A “funny-sad” alien coming-of-age story following out-of-this-world Adina, who has been sent to Earth to take notes on humans. She communicates with the motherland (via fax machine, of course), sending keen observations on the absurdities of human life. At the same time, she must also navigate the challenges of being an outsider. By Marie-Helene Bertino.

What books are you reading this summer? Let me know in the comments. The only thing better than a summer TBR pile is an even bigger one.
